Logan Honored with Fellinger Award
The
Fellinger Prize in Thermal Sciences is given
annually to a senior ME student who has excelled and
shows promise in the thermo-fluids-heat transfer and
energy utilization parts of the undergraduate
curriculum. Joel Logan was recognized spring
semester 2006 with a $250 award.

ISU Human
Powered Vehicle Team earns first place finish
The
Iowa State University Human Powered Vehicle (HPV)
team took first place in the multi-rider vehicle
division at the American Society of Mechanical
Engineers (ASME) East Coast Challenge in Charlotte,
North Carolina, May 5–7. This is the first time Iowa
State’s ASME student chapter has entered an HPV
competition. The first ISU HPV Team at an HPV
competition consisted of Michael Morse, Royal
Elmore, Woodrow Witherow, Jeff Bartels, Kyle Rehn,
Greg Swiss, and Jeff Feuerhelm.

honors and awards received by its faculty and staff members.
Doug Beck, Jim Bernard, Mark Bryden, Ted Heindel, Ron, Nelson,
Mike Olsen, and Dick Pletcher have all recently
received recognition for their achievements. For

Shrotriya receives NSF Career Award
Pranav
Shrotriya has been awarded one of the National
Science Foundation's most prestigious awards given
to early career faculty. The NSF Faculty Early
Career Development (CAREER) Award provides funding
to support an integrated research and teaching plan
focused on exciting new research challenges. The
outstanding faculty in the Mechanical Engineering
Department at ISU include three additional NSF
CAREER awardees, one Department of Energy CAREER
awardee and two NSF Presidential Young Investigator
awardees.
