About AMISS The Active Materials and Intelligent Structures and Systems Laboratory is directed by Dr. LeAnn Faidley in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Iowa State University. It was started in the Fall of 2006. Research Goals AMISS is engaged in the manufacture, characterization, modeling, control, and applicaton of a wide variety of active (or smart) materials.
